Case Study: Mobile Site for Service Contractor

Mar 26, 2014 By Melissa Cahill

As part of our white-label service to other marketing agencies, we were asked to produce this WordPress website and a dedicated mobile version for Intelireach on behalf of their client, BCS Restoration. Intelireach worked with the client to develop the content for the site; Panoptic built the site around a pre-designed WordPress theme (we adapted the theme to use the client’s logo and colors).

Mobile Websites by Panoptic Online MarketingThe theme, which was not a “mobile responsive theme,” looked OK on mobile devices… but it required the reader to “pinch-zoom” to make the buttons large enough to click, and it required horizontal scrolling when viewed in portrait orientation. The client decided that they preferred to have a dedicated mobile site rather than a mobile responsive theme. There were a number of features built into the hosting platform that made it the more attractive option.

So we set it up — you can see the difference between the desktop and mobile versions below (click for a live preview).

The mobile site features nice big buttons, including the “Click to Call” feature. The Services section was re-conceived as a single, tabbed page and content was streamlined to include only the most relevant pages for the mobile visitor.

For local service contractors, a mobile presence is a must. Customers who seek services provided by home repair and improvement companies, handymen, plumbers and environmental cleaning experts (like BCS) are searching for what they need at the moment they need it — and that often means they’re searching from their mobile phones. Make sure they like what they see.
